19 high ranking players have been invited thus far, with one still on the fence. Four qualifying events will be held each week in December with the top three participants advancing to the finals, totaling 32 participants in all. The qualifiers are designed to accommodate as many as 512 players, adding to that the rather substantial prize pool and there's little doubt more world class competitors will be throwing their hats into the ring.
Once the qualifiers are complete the event will progress to a group stage where players will be divided into eight groups of four with the top two competitors advancing. The final stage of the event will be double elimination brackets comprising 16 finalists.
This is The Gaming League's most ambitious event to date, both in size and stature. The Winter season is usually lacking in events, of this magnitude certainly, and with Ballerpoker putting up $6,000 in prize money the event is sure to see some very heavy interest.
Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, Yoan 'ToD' Merlo, Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn and Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán are just a few of the players to have registered to compete, with Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen also confirming his participation.
The first qualifier starts at 14:00 CET December 7th, this Sunday. Live video streams and WaaaghTV will be available during the event.
