SK Gaming have beaten mTw in the grand final of the Dreamhack Winter 2008 and were able to take revenge on the Danes for losing to them in the World Cyber Games grand final just a few weeks ago.

A tumultuous applause accompanied SK Gaming as they took the final round of the second overtime on the last map against mTw. The outburst of joy matched the intensity of the games.

In the start, however, it did not look like there was a happy ending waiting at the end of the ride for SK. mTw were a team that haunted them all year and won four out of five encounters with the Swedes. They were the team to beat and proved that on SK's pick, de_dust2.

The Danes won the Terrorist side 12-3 and, while SK had a good comeback, it was already at game point for mTw. The 16-10 final score does not tell the whole story.

walle and company had a great comeback on the second map, de_inferno, which had been their weakest map in the recent weeks. mTw saw themselves lose 5-10 as Terrorist and 6-0 as Counter-Terrorist.

The third and final map was de_nuke, a great map for both teams so far in the tournament, even though SK had to play a few overtimes against Giants earlier on. It came down to another overtime after 30 intense rounds (11-4, 4-11).

The overtime started very well with SK taking the first two rounds only to see themselves down 3-2 and having to take a round to survive with a very weak economy. Somehow, they pulled through.

The second overtime was the one where SK finally took it and avenged themselves. Crazy frags were exchanged with Marcus 'zet' Sundström winning a 1on4 situation leading his team to the victory.

After a long time the Dreamhack trophy comes back to Sweden.

Fnatic, the other top Swedish team in the tournament, did not get as much luck in their match for the third place and narrowly lost 2-1 to Meet Your Makers. The deciding map also ended in overtime.
