The incident took place when the Undead player tied with Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu and Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li with 3 wins and 1 loss by the end of group stage with all of them defeating each other once. As usual, a following tie-breaker among them was set up to decide which two of them would proceed to the playoffs.
None of them was able to claim two defeats of their counterparts in the tie-breakers and it seemed another tie-breaker was inevitable. But the organizing body of CEG opted to demand the players draw the winners instead.
"The decision led to a rather erratic outcome and based nothing but on pure luck and I would rather fight for a qualification on his own hands", says TED in his latest blog and it was echoed by both Fly100% and Sky. Though all of them opposed to this decision, resistant CEG didn’t seem to waver. Fly100% and Sky picked first and received first place and second place in their group respectively and TED was consequently eliminated without even taking part in the draw.
"The schedule is too tight so there is simply not enough time for another tie-breaker in their theory. Though previous CEG tours usually last three days, there were 3 or 4 tie-breakers in a row a couple of times before," Continues TED, "Now that they decide to draw the winners after just one tie-breaker and this is the first time I've ever heard someone advance from group stage because of draw."

TED bemoans tough luck in quirky draw

After finishing the first three-way tie-breaker with Weiliang “Fly100%” Lu and Xiaofeng “Sky” Li in Group A in Beijing Tour of China E-sports Games(CEG) 2008 Series, Zhuo “TED” Zeng was abruptly eliminated from the competition by a draw instead of playing another tie-breaker.

Under fire, Xiaofeng "Sky" Li of World Elite grabs the championship of the Beijing Tour of China E-sports Games 2008 Series by defeating teammate Kejing "Like" Li in the grand final.

they already played a tiebreaker and i guess they were out of time and if that's the case the boss's decision is logical
hosting an event isnt easy as we think
Wow...I can't believe you said that. I'm surprised SK supports inherent racism like this.
S.Korea runs the best tournaments there are, they are Asian.
China runs great tournaments, they are Asian.
One problem, at one tournament, does not represent an entire body of people, or the way they run events.
Bad luck Ted, just bad luck.
TeD : undead =)
Admins : Undead? whats that, it doesnt exist lol, you are dismissed.
TeD : zomg =(
An other evidence, people ignoring us, ://. Undeads exists ! :(
well, undeads are already very rare amongst top wc3 play these days. and then such a bullshit comes way...
#2 is perfectly right.
fly should be eliminated cause he is orc and lost twice to human.
gj admins
the only ud in the asian scene that could actually win something you guys eliminate him
Misshapes happen everywhere, you must consider that 20% of humanity is living in china, witch logicaly means that they also have more people to participate in e-sports than most other countries. most esports tournaments is hosted in china (counting minor tournaments/events/leagues aswell) witch means that they host far more tournaments than other countries.
if we make a hypotesis that it happens shit like this in 1 out of 10 tournaments (statistics) and china host.. lets say 100 tournaments per year, other countries host 5-20, so it will go wrong in 10 tournaments per year in china, and in 0-2 tournaments in other countries.
thats the reason you hear about more misshapes from chineese tournaments.
its not cause they are bad in their management, its cause bad luck hits like it does everywhere else.
Gerila ftw!!!
The West Memphis Three were treated fairer than TeD was...
Ted just complained his bad luck in the draw and wished himself better luck next time. What're you guying saying? racism?
for this he should have been disqualified anyway back then
and i dont think another tiebreaker would have taken 2 hours 3 games usually make up ONE more hour
just imagine at wcg, yaws would have beaten sase in tiebreaker and admins would have made the same decisions as CEG tofinally kick grubby out of the tour cuz of COINFLIP, thats retarded
but all the asia-flames are at least as retarded since Asian tournaments are always exciting and most well-run
Hopefully CEG will learn from this in the future... Chinese tournaments have been getting better in quality over the years but this is just a "WTF were they thinking" moment
I'm pretty sure they couldve fitted in some tiebreakers either later that day or early the next day.
and if not, then they could just aswell just /random away the price money cause without TeD whole top3 could be changed.
Absolutely retarded to coinflip, This tournament counts for nothing, and YES chinafan I can run a tournament better.
