MeetYourMakers join SK Gaming, World Elite and fnatic as one of four finalists in the ESL's 14th season of the WC3L.

Having already lost to mTw earlier in the season, the predominantly Korean squad of the well-to-do Danish based MeetYourMakers was in a troubled space. On paper MYM did have the ability to beat mTw, but that same assurance was with them weeks prior when they lost to mTw three to two.

mTw opened things up with a strong 2on2 performance from Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee and Du Seop 'WhO' Chang giving them a point lead. Despite agreeing to play the match, Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang was apparently feeling ill, resulting in the postponement of his game versus Dae Hui 'FoV' Cho. Participating in the match while being anything less than 100% was a risky move on MYM's part, given the importance of the match.

Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn and Jin Woo 'WinNers' Kim were the first to butt heads, initially on Terenas Stand where a risky expansion paid off for SocceR, after successfully defending several pushes by WinNers. Game two was a highly confrontational treat for spectators with the two Night Elves battling for dominance by the Western goblin merchant for most of the match. SocceR eventually got the better of his opponent, freeing up an opportunity to out creep WinNers, which give him his second win.

Next up was Jung Ki 'Susiria' Oh versus Check where, despite a rather weak performance on Echo Isles, Susiria bounced back with uncanny determination. Utilizing his powerful harassment techniques Susiria was able to win Ancient Isles to force a third map. The game on Melting Valley stayed relatively even for the most part, though most of Check's slight advantage was tossed away with some sloppy mistakes. Leaving items for Susiria to pick up, building his expansion too far from the goldmine to entangle it and building another expansion too close to some creeps all contributed in some form or another. Throwing free dryad kills at Susiria wasn’t a particularly effective move either. Susiria was a lot more cautious about the battles he fought and in the end was able to win the game with his calmer play style.

Next up was Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen versus WhO on Gnoll Wood where Grubby took an early lead with a vastly more effective harassment. The two met outside of Grubby’s base where his additional attack upgrade helped him push WhO back to the mana fountain, there he was able to finish him off and take the first point.

The second map was Terenas Stand, WhO opened things up with a great harass ending with two grunt kills. Grubby, never the one to be outdone, fired back with two grunt kills of his own to even things up. The two eventually clashed near Grubby’s base where WhO was able to edge out the victory to take the second map.

The two moved on to Lost Temple where again an initial period of grunt trading was proceeded by heavy creeping. WhO expanded first and took the lead in the food count, eventually forcing a fight after noticing Grubby’s own expansion. Grubby was at a disadvantage going into the fight and failed to fully capitalize on the advantage he did have, fighting by his base. WhO's Blademaster was stacked with more offensive items, while Grubby's items were more defensive based. WhO was able to take the third map and force the fans, and Losemann, to wait another day to find out who would advance. The community was on edge, but Losemann may have had a minor stroke in anticipation.

It eventually fell on Moon or FoV's shoulders to secure victory for their teams. The first map was Twisted Meadows on which Moon played a fantastic game, his harassment was well timed and consistent, eventually aiding him in constructing two expansions unchallenged, despite the harassment heavy style of the gargoyle strategy. For most of the game FoV was confined to his base and really couldn’t do much despite his high level Death Knight. Moon took the first map to take the lead.

Game two landed on Secret Valley, we saw more or less the same strategies we saw on the previous map. FoV's harassment was ineffective or non-existent for most of the early stages in the game, quite a bit of the later game too. One of the few things gargoyles are useful for is harassment, to not capitalize on that is only going to make your game more difficult. Eventually FoV did make some use of his gargoyles and managed to take out Moon's expansion. The game lasted for quite a while, though Moon was in control for all but one moment towards the end. After his two heroes died it looked as though FoV may have had the game, but with two expansions the Night Elf was able to revive his heroes at the tavern, after which FoV just wasn't able to hold on. With that, Moon secured MYM's place at the WC3L finals.

The play-off matches were nothing short of riveting, if this is any indication of the kind of matches we're going to see at the finals then sign me up right now.
