After the shutdown of the Championship Gaming Series, doubts began to arise as to the future of compLexity and Team 3D in esports.
In a letter to the community, coL's founder and general manager cleared up several issues. From the letter we find out that the compLexity brand still belongs to DirecTV and the future is uncertain.
"I have contacted the powers that be about obtaining the property," says Lake, "but as of today there are no answers. Perhaps they'll attempt to sell it on the open market. I question the value of the brand without the people behind it, but it's their right to shop it around. Perhaps they'll return compLexity to us."
Lake is determined to stick to his team, though, and plans to continue his journey through esports with it - as coL or under a different name. The people behind the organisation, along with the players, have committed to staying together.
"compLexity will press forward," the letter reads. "The organization may not be called compLexity. It might not have all the same faces if we don't have a white knight corporation support us. It might take some time, but compLexity will push on. The dream will survive."
Founded nearly five years ago, compLexity was one of the world's best Counter-Strike 1.6 teams in the world until the team was purchased by the CGS two years ago. SK's Marcus 'zet' Sundström was one of the team's players in the first CGS season.
