The main reason for a PS3 initially was because MGS4 and the next Final Fantasy were set to be on the PS3 (I am super FF fan!). FInal Fantasy XIII however will now be on PS3 AND XBOX360 but Final Fantasy XIII: Versus will ONLY be on the PS3, but they will not come out until maybe 2010.
So far these are the pros and cons I have found through reading and surfing:

Does anyone here have both or played both? I've only played XBOX360 at friends houses, but never the PS3.Also I'm looking for a console that has some good two player games available that are not FPS, suggestions?

Help Maly decide: PS3 or XBOX360?
Well my birthday is less than a week away and I decided its time to get another "next-gen" console for myself. I already have a Wii and I was pretty set on an XBOX360 but now I'm unsure!

As PS3 has BluRay it has a shittier quality games (resolution) than XBOX, so if you have a 37" + TV, then you will notice a small difference while playing games. XBOX games come in better default resolution for HD. Apart from that aspect .. and ofc the price, PS3 is way over XBOX.
Ofc some may say that PS3 does have not all the games etc etc, but the most games .. most popular ones that you would love to play .. they are there, available on PS3.
One more thing that is a huge PRO for PS3 is that it has the media center built in .. if you have a PC or a laptop connected to the internet (cable/wifi) at your home/office then PS3 is able to take music / pictures / video files from the PC/laptop using Windows Media Player and play them, without a need of copying something. Most people do not know that fact, but it tends to be a very handy one.
But LittleBigPlanet is good, so I don't know, but I will say Xbox !

Sincerly, I would prefer buying the PS3 because I used to play playstations games since 1997 with Tomb Raider/Gran Turismo and of course the game I prefer the most Metal Gear Solid.
Most of the games which ar eon PS3 are often on xbox360 it would be stupid to buy a console only for 2-3 games ^^ Playstation forever
however, the Red Ring of Death problem, I believe is solved because of the new XBOX360 Pro versions.
of course ps3 everything different sucks !

It is cheaper and more and more games are comming up on this platform.
There are no Red Rings of death in Falcon or Jasper versions of the console.
I advice you to look for Jasper cause it is the newest one and it may be not so noisy after all.
But if you wanna cheap Blu-Ray player pick up PS3 )
Hope that explains it well enough! haha, but if you wanna watch Blurays then the PS3 is a great Bluray player :p, and as Elke said, Achievements ARE hugely addictive, i've rented horribly bad games just to get points, as bad as that may be, I calmed that down though ;( haha, it does get on top of you, the competitive nature of it, and it makes the games last waaay longer and makes you do things you never normally would in games, so yeh, 360 for me! haha :p
blue ray and in-build wireless should be enough to buy the ps3, xbox360 most fun is playing online but will cost you an extgra tariff.Looking into the future i think ps3 its expensive because its going to have more life

XBOX360 has bad rpg's :/ There arent THAT amazing games which i would want to play on XBOX.
But OK! Im a Playstation-man. but if your a FF-fan you must be too. You love that Dual Shock-pad!

BLU RAY dvds might not be the one u want atm, but its still the format of "tomorrow" so the bluraydvds will get cheaper soon.. And then u can enjoy them-.-
