Last week's ESWC Masters of Paris event gathered 27,000 spectators over three days
Fragster, but the event runs on a small budget in proportion to its magnitude. The project is not sponsored by a global giant which means that it cannot be perfect.
"I hope that one day pro gamers could live from their skills and talent but in fact today we do our best to make a success out of an event and to give the champions some prize money. But again that is just to explain why we have only 66.000 Dollar, which isn't embarrassing."
One of the less ideal aspects of the Masters was the online coverage and Dallon is aware of that:
" It's never perfect of course. We know that we've got to improve a lot. But I also have to say that we have a system with all the results live on the internet which are validated by the admins. We also have a press center with a lot space and we welcome all media here. OK, we can improve but we did a lot to have a coverage.
Again it's not against you, the people that judge our choices: Do the event, do the broadcast, do the thing. I agree that could be perfect and everything could be live on the internet of course. We did our best and we did much more for Counter-Strike than for DotA, because we didn't have the resources to do everything for everybody."

The other interesting thoughts in the interview concern the reasoning behind the ESWC's game choices and their freedom in that regard, World of Warcraft, the Grand Final in San Jose and the future structure of the ESWC season.
Most significantly, Dallon also talks about the difference between the WCG and the ESWC:
"We have a lot differences in the choice of games in the way we put attention on the events. We try to put attention on the champions and not the brand. We try to put attention on the show and maybe they try to put attention on the institution. The way they try to promote their Cyber Olympics' idea. Nevertheless I have a lot of respect for the World Cyber Games."
The interview by Fragster is a voluminous read but it is definitely worth your while. Read it right here.

Dallon: So why don't you do that? Produce an event and do that!"
what a piece of shit
Make excuses all you want but if you can't or won't put 200% behind every tournament you host, then don't host the game in question. I would pay to see CoD4 games at the ESWC (amongst others) so stop whining about limited resources and pull your finger out.
"So why don't you do that? Produce an event and do that!" - sounded like a TosspoT reply to be honest (you can't get any harsher than that!!!!!
I think many tournaments and players would love to see COD4 in an event, but to be fair you have to blame that on the developers for not having a PRO MOD which would allow this to be played in tournaments. Hard to play a game in tournaments that starts players with limited weapons until you prestige, arrrg. :/

The community is developing its own promod and the LANs and high skilled players are supporting it. The only thing which CoD4 needs IW/Activision for is permission to make a TV mod.
It's a 100% fact that the streams where crap (1 stream with French commentary) and I strongly believe that there would be multiple partners interested in fully paying for those streams while putting their name next to them, seeing as there are potentially tens of thousands of people watching that stream throughout the weekend.
Concerning the stream, if it was so easy to do, don't you think that it'll be really stupid to refuse it. Being a CEO is about managing time, resources, relations, and making choices, and i think overall we can be satisfied about ESWC as an eSports event.
Carmac we need your opinion on ESWC after maly's corner.
The last sentence especially
Thank you.
prolly he's a good organizer and a master of his profession, but why not find some more suited person to make the interviews?
Mais bon, tant bien que mal, nous essayons de combler nos lacunes d'organisation.

Frankly, the ESWC masters was the worst event ESWC has ever run and i hope it's just a one-off. It's always been my personal favourite tournament and i expect them to get back to their community-driven agenda at the grand finals.
